Is it possible to remove black spots from teeth?

I've been a little heavy on the sugar and starchy foods lately, and I've developed some light, black coloring on a few upper and lower teeth. Is it possible to remove that coloring by re-bleaching my teeth, or, perhaps, by going to the dentist and getting some procedure done? I'm cutting back on the sugar to prevent anymore damage. This isn't good :(

Is it possible to remove black spots from teeth?
yea. they're cavities. if you cover them up, they're just gonna grow under the covering.
Reply:they are known as cavities, tooth decay.. the damage is done.. see a dentist before the cavity gets to your nerve.. .then its no longer a fill-in you'll need it'll be a root cannal or extraction.. good

luck.
Reply:yes it can be removed just go to a dentist and will do every thing all right.
Reply:It is definitely a cavity. I would run to the dentist ASAP. The damage is done.

What looks better natural semi yellow/white teeth or bleached white?

THE COLOR OF YOUR TEETH NEED TO MATCH YOUR SKIN TONE, IF YOU R DARK SKINNED THEN OBVIOUSLY VERY WHITE TEETH WILL LOOK UNNATURAL. IF YOU ARE FAIR THEN WHITE TEETH WILL LOOK NATURAL.

What looks better natural semi yellow/white teeth or bleached white?
Natural is always better.. @ least thats what i tell myelf because mines are natural but they are in no way bleach white.... mine are like a little off white. lol

semi white teeth!

What looks better natural semi yellow/white teeth or bleached white?
Bleached white obviously doesn't look natural, and people will question but it looks good nevertheless. Semi yellow/white teeth are natural so nobody will really comment on it. If I had the chance I would probably bleach my teeth, more compliments%26amp;a dazzling smile.

Can taking a bath or brushing your teeth with bleach be helpful?

It's not helpful if you value your skin or your teeth. 1st of all, the bleach will severely dry out your skin or cause a rash, and if you ingest too much bleach, it could be toxic. So, you may want to try a different method.

Can taking a bath or brushing your teeth with bleach be helpful?
I would not use bleach. By a Baking soda and Peroxide toothpaste. That is better in my opinion
Reply:I don't think I am following what you are trying to ask. As far as (laundry) bleach goes, I would not recommend using it to brush your teeth. Are you trying to whiten them? If so, there are over the counter bleaching agents (pastes, strips, gels, etc.) that will help to brighten your smile, although many are only temporary and offer minimal results. A trip to the dentist will help to gain a whiter smile, but I do not believe such a proceedure is covered by insurance, therefore, it can be quite costly. It sounds like you might be trying to kill germs and bacteria. Frequent brushing and flossing will help to prevent plaque build up and subsequent decay. Dental cleanings will also over relief so that germs cannot harbor themselves in the plaque between your teeth.

You totally lost me on the taking the bath part. Taking a bath will relieve odor and minimize/eradicate dirt and germs, but it will do nothing to promote the health of your teeth and gums, nor will it whiten them. Taking a bath with bleach is not recommended. It will severly burn, as well as, dry out your skin. I wouldn't recommend bleach with respect to dental hygiene or using it to bathe with.
Reply:bleach is bad for your skin let alone your mouth!
Reply:DO NOT BRUSH YOUR TEETH WITH BLEACH!!! It's toxic!!!!!
Reply:I really hope your kidding. Bleach is not good for any use on or in your body. Maybe you heard about people using peroxide to brush with. This also is not the best idea but not as harmful as bleach would be. What is the reason that you would want to use this on your skin or mouth?

How can u bleach ur teeth??

is it true salt makes ur teeth whiter????

How can u bleach ur teeth??
I have had the bleaching done at the dentist with the new zoom precedure. It works wonder and I have tried the messy crest strips and all that. Zoom is only a hour and amazing.. Here is a pic of my teeth afterwards! http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m222/...
Reply:In short NO. However it is an abrasive so it will help reduce extrinsic stains(coffee, tea, tobacoo stains on teeth surface) but whitening toothpastes do a much better job in that than salt.

This will NOT take several weeks. You are in a dental chair, they wont take that long... maybe an hour. max.

Someone Help me With my Teeth Problem !?

okay will bleaching my teeth with the bleech you use for ur clothes work and if not some one help me figure out a way to brighten my teeth using at home products

Someone Help me With my Teeth Problem !?
Have you even READ the bleach bottle? Did you notice the warning on it that says "Poisonous if ingested"?

You CAN NOT use household bleach on your teeth. You would end up getting very sick (minimum).

Instead, you can use a mixture of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. I know this sounds disgusting, and it TASTES equally disgusting, but it is what dentist's themselves recommend to clear up gum disease and help to naturally whiten teeth.

I would put a heaping teaspoon full of baking soda in a small dish. Then dip your toothbrush in hydrogen peroxide and then dig it straight into the baking soda so that you pick up a wet clump of it. Then brush your teeth vigorously. Continue dipping in both until all of the baking soda is used up, and your teeth and gums feel sparkly clean. You are going to want to spit all of this mixture out after you are done brushing. (It will taste very salty.)

Rinse with water.

It will take time to get all the ground in stains out of your tooth enamel. Say brushing your teeth twice a day this way for at least a couple of weeks.
Reply:bleaching with that will kill you, because that is too high of a concentration to be putting anywhere near your mouth...go out and buy crests whitestrips or a product similiar to that
Reply:DO NOT put bleach in your mouth. It must be one of the most toxic things you can put into your body. Try using Crest White Strips... they're relatively cheap and are sold at Walmart.

All the best,

- Lauren
Reply:toothpaste and baking soda. spinkle baking soda on ur toothpaste
Reply:I can only pray that you are not serious about the use of commercial bleach for your teeth ...

Without spending $350+ at a dentist's office, your best alternative is to buy the whitener from a dentist that sells on ebay. These dentists create custom molds of your teeth in their labs - exactly the same procedure as if you went to a dentist, along with the very same whitening gel used by dentists. You'll be pleased.
Reply:try baking soda mixed with your toothpaste, and it will penetrate your teeth, and get deep down to gums for an effective clean. your teeth will whiten shortly a couple days after that procedure.

Is it okay to whitten your teeth with bleach like clorox if I'm careful?

maybe

Is it okay to whitten your teeth with bleach like clorox if I'm careful?
You will surely kill yourself! Use Crest Whitestrips...they work VERY well. Clorox does not work on teeth.
Reply:regular bleach will eat the enamel right off your teeth and be even more yellow
Reply:NO,NO.NO!! The whitening agents that are used to whiten teeh is not household bleach Please don't do that!
Reply:I don't know, It sounds dangerous, and could end very badly.

Better to keep the yellow like me! =D
Reply:its a proven fact that you can swallow a gallon of beach every hour with no problem but if you do more then that you should be ready for somethin freaky!!!! (not)
Reply:No, it most definitely is NOT.

If the bleach is strong enough to whiten teeth, it is strong enough to severely damage your gum, mouth and tongue tissues. If you think you can "paint" you teeth and do no damage, don't believe it-breathing it that close-up will damage the lining of your nostrils.
Reply:i've never tried it, but what the hey, give it a whirl, report back and let us all know how it went.
Reply:Absolutely not! It is not the same ingredient as in dental bleach. Dental bleach has either carbomide or hydrogen bleaching agents.
Reply:No, it isn't ok to use clorox on your teeth.

The bleach that is used to whiten teeth isn't ACTUALLY bleach -- it's a special type of peroxide (I believe it's called carbamide peroxide).

You can use the clorox white strips -- I did -- they definitely helped whiten my teeth -- but the results didn't last very long.

I also tried the rembrands paste/gell stuff that goes in the mouth trays and you use it either on a set schedule for an entire day, or for a week. It whitened, a little -- but, it didn't stay, either.

I start the day by rinsing my mouth with mouthwash -- then, I rinse with full strength peroxide for one minute -- if I forget to do it for a few days, my gums turn a little white . .. but it's worth it. After that, I brush my teeth -- then I floss, and I rinse again with mouthwash.

My teeth aren't white enough to glow in the dark, but they're white enough to stand close to somebody and not have to worry about them thinking my teeth are yellow.
Reply:i dont know, but i wouldnt take that chance.Good Luck:)
Reply:it is a very strong bleach and that is going to do things to your gums.
Reply:Are u for real? I didnt know anyone would really do something like that. Bleach is a bad thing and shouldnt be put in the mouth..
Reply:if you want a whitener, use baking soda with your toothpaste. :) it is recommended by dentists and it's safe. cheap too!

Can you bleach artificial teeth?
No. whatever the color of the fake teeth are that is a permanent color. They were made to match the color of your other real teeth.if you whiten your other teeth then it wont look good because your real teeth will be whiter than the fake teeth. Dont whiten your teeth.

How do i bleach my teeth at home?

Ive been reading some articles about teeth whitening and i want my teeth to be shiny white but i cannot be bothered spending thousands of pounds or spending anything lol. Is there anyway i can do it at home without buying anything ??

How do i bleach my teeth at home?
believe it or not........baking soda works wonders. dampen your tooth brush and dip it in baking soda and brush away. and brush your teeth several times a day with this solution and you will see whiter teeth in no time.

in boots(.com) they have a teeth whitening items, i bought a stick thing which was like lip gloss with two sides and that worked a bit and cost £9.99
Reply:If you dont want to try toothpaste, you can use food grade HYdrogen Peroxide (h2O2) available in boots. Be sure to water it down. This stuff is good for many things, both my grandparents take 2 spoonfuls first thing in the morning like medicine, it is good for keeping the insides clean. and loads of other stuff as mentioned.
Reply:You first need gum guards moulded to your teeth (from the sports shop), from the chemist you need hydrogen peroxide, from the grocer you need baking soda. Mix equal parts of the two into a stiff paste, put the mix in the gum Shields and put on your teeth for 20 minutes. This is a variation of what the dentist will charge you 100s for.
Reply:definitely dip your toothbrush in peroxide best way ever...not too much though or it will create too much foam...for further bleaching create a mixture of baking soda and peroxide and youre good to go
Reply:I bought some whitening toothpaste once and used it a few times. My daughter in law(to be) came round and I mentioned it to her. She said not to use it as she saw someone who had-it had caused the front two teeth to become almost transparent. It took all the enamel off and weakened them. It is best to ask around before using the bleach I think.
Reply:some may find this odd but i was watching oprah about 2 years ago had some dentist specialist on her show on do it your slef dental and they said that f you buy MR.CLEAN magic erasor $3.99 and tear of a small piece wet it and then wipe your teeth vigorusly with it it will whiten them up signifigantly then brush immediatly afterwards my husband had a big yellow stain on his two front teeth before our wedding from smoking and i tryed it and you wouldnt even know he had a stain so maybe you could try it its good for Tons of other thing removes nail polish everything hope this helps even though it is a little bizzare but OPRAH said it so cant be that bad other wise im sure someone would have sued her by now for it
Reply:You don't need to spend over 100 pound sterlings on teeth whitening. You can do things at home, but they aren't as effective as some other ways.

For example don't rub orange or lemon peel against your teeth like many people recommend. The reason this method "works" because rubbing the peel will wear off the front layer of your teeth. So your teeth will be thinner and weaker. Real teeth whitening doesn't have this weakening effect.

The most popular way now is Crest whitestrips. Check out this article about Crest white strips models:

How can i have whiter teeth?

i brush my teeth twice a day with one of those sonicare elite toothbrushes, i floss whenever i see that stuff between my teeth, and sometimes i use listerine at night. this has been going on for a little whie now, and still no results. yes, i eat sweets (moderately, not overdoing it), and i know that probably makes it worse, but i just want to know how i can whiten my teeth inexpensively, without bleaching my teeth or using any kind of strips, and my goal is to go to the dentist without them telling me i have a cavity. help!!

How can i have whiter teeth?
I use Listerine PRE-Rinse... SO far it's made my teeth whiter over time, it's inexpensive and doesn't taste bad!

However... whitening your teeth won't prevent cavities.

You should brush after every meal.

If your a candy lover like me... don't eat candy through out the day... if your going to chomp on some sweets.. . pick a time and eat it all at the same time... then go brush your teeth. Sugar sticks to the enamel of your teeth so make sure if you're going to have a piece of candy or sweets... go brush right after to avoid cavities.

Hope that helped!

Reply:Is there a reason you don't want to use strips? I've used them before and they really work. They are inexpensive, too. The ones I used are the Crest Whitestrips (just the regular ones) and they're like 20 bucks. People started telling me my teeth were really white after the first time.

We have the color teeth we have because of genetics (along with what we eat and how well we take care of our teeth). It sounds like you're doing everything you can, so if you want a boost, try the strips!
Reply:Whitening toothpaste such as Rembrandt whitening or extra whitening, whatever they have, works well for me. It's a little more expensive but you don't have to keep getting it to maintain the results. Just get a tube here and there.

The cavity thing may not be related to whiteness. Whitening products can even weaken enamel which protects your teeth from cavities. Crest pro-health, I think it's called, works for a whole spectrum of dental health including whitening and cavities. Flossing is good to do daily.

Best Wishes!

How to get dental glue off teeth and make them whiter?

I just got my braces off and the orthodontist didnt really get all the glue off so how can i get it off? Also, theres a lot of white stuff on my teeth and i cant seem to get that off. Besides bleaching my teeth, what kind of teeth whitening methods or teeth whitening products do you guys/gals recommend? THANKS!

How to get dental glue off teeth and make them whiter?
You should have a professional cleaning to remove the cement from the teeth and below the gum line, it's always recommended after the removal of ortho. The "white stuff" is either plaque or demineralized areas cause by the acid in plaque that is left on teeth too long etching or initiating the decay of these teeth. Plaque can be brushed away, if it’s not brushing off then its demineralized areas. Take care of getting your teeth cleaned and have these "white" areas evaluated first. You can discuss bleaching with the dentist then. He can explain the different methods available. Hope I've been of some help and good luck.

additional information: You've already had impressions made for your retainers, these same models can be used for bleaching trays to be made from. There is no need to go through the impression process again, nothing has changed (crown work) since these were made. Just ask your orthodontist for them if he didn't give them to your already.

And thank you Dr. Albert, that is so true, a high speed hand piece isn't always needed to remove the orthodontic cement.
Reply:Schedule you an appointment with the Dentist, he can use a polishing bur to remove the excess cement. I'm not sure about your white spots, It could be plaque from not brushing good, or it could be areas of calcification, and no matter how much you brush it won't come of.Get a good cleaning by the hygienist and talk to her about whitening your teeth. I had braces and had left over glue also, it will drive your tongue crazy. I had the Dentist to us a smoothing/polishing bur to remove the glue, had a cleaning and then I had impressions made for whitening trays and I used NiteWhite by Discus Dental for the whitener. It has fluoride and my teeth didn't get sensitive. I have worked for a Dentist for a long time and this was my favorite whitener it comes in Cherry %26amp; Mint Flavors. And you can see results it two-three days. You wear it for a week and then you just have to follow up once a month for a day for maintenence. The whitner should make the white spots less or even not noticeable. Good Luck !!
Reply:when you get your braces off the orthodontist uses an adhesive remover or a high speed with a composite bur to remove the dental cement. if you have white stains on your teeth it could mean that you have decalcifications which is caused from poor oral hygiene while in treatment with braces.those spots are usually permanent. i don't think that bleaching would help. ask your dentist if they recommend anything or if they heard of a paste called "mi paste". anyways, I'm not really for the bleaching... because it causes my teeth to become sensitive...but if your want to try bleaching then i would suggest to put some desensitizor paste or the tooth paste called sesidyne before and after... well, when you go back to your orthodontics to receive your retainers make sure you wear them all the time for the first 6 months so your teeth won't shift... take it out to eat and brush of course!! Congrats!!!
Reply:DIANA,

THE HYGIENIST HAS SPECIAL DENTAL INSTRUMENTS CALLED SCALERS WHICH CAN EASILY REMOVE ANY EXCESS DENTAL CEMENT FROM THE ORTHODONTIC BRACKETS. IF THIS DOESN'T WORK THE DENTIST HAS SPACIAL DENTAL BURS WHICH REMOVE CEMENT AND DON'T HARM ENAMEL.

If you brushed your teeth with bleach would they be white?

Bleach kills tissue. The bleaching kits that you get in the store are not bleach, it is hydrogen peroxide.

If you brushed your teeth with bleach would they be white?
No, but you'd be dead
Reply:I don't think that's a good idea.
Reply:NO, by the way you would poison yourself first!
Reply:Probably, but it's not something I would attempt unless you want to lose your gums, lips and tongue.
Reply:don't do it. Just go to the dentist and he could suggest you in a professional manner
Reply:No, you'd get chemical burns on your gums, the enamel would likely dissolve, you'd be poisoned, and they'd probably fall out. Did you really need telling this?
Reply:Doubt it, but you would be dead, so I guess it wouldn't matter much.
Reply:No...it would eat away at the enamel surface and probably burn inside your mouth.....so not a good idea!
Reply:No; but even if they did, all the acid from your vomit would destroy them.
Reply:You may get white teeth but what will happen to the rest of your mouth? I suggest trying strips instead.
Reply:you would be posioned. try peroxide its much safer just make sure to spit it out.
Reply:no but baking soda and vinager works good ;)
Reply:you should definitely try this one
Reply:not if you'd want to live.
Reply:yeah and you might end up in the hospital. at the very least you will burn your mouth. dont try it. use only whiting products that are intended tobe in your mouth. read the bottle of bleach, not to be taken internally
Reply:Yes but you may not taste anything for a week or so.

Bleach is way to strong and it will also damage the surface of your teeth. They could become porous causing them to get stained more quickly and subject to decay.

The bleach might also give you serious stomach upsets at best or kill you at worst.
Reply:the peroxide in whitening toothpaste or teeth whitening kits is pretty much the same thing as bleach. But if you injested the bleach that you would use to wash clothes with (for example) you would either kill yourself or get violently ill and throw up, which would then yellow your teeth and defeat the purpose of using the bleach in the first place. So stick to white strips! (because you need more than 2-3 mins exposure to the peroxide to whiten your teeth!)
Reply:Sure, if you want to poison yourself with sodium hypochlorite.
Reply:maybe... and i'm sure that your new white teeth would impress everyone at your funeral.
Reply:Don't use bleach when you brush your teeth. That's dangerous, instead of that you can use pure peroxide. Just try and not swallow any of it. I use it on a daily basis and it helps keep my teeth white.
Reply:do it and let us know..
Reply:I know another way to get your teeth whitened. It tastes a bit bitter but it won't kill you!!
Reply:no you would most likely mess up your teeth and gums, get really sick if not die since bleach is a poisen and is not suitable for human digestion. use crest whitening strips they work, or the whitening mouth wash. and there is also going to the denist but that is a wee bit more expensive.
Reply:Bleach is poison and should never be put in your mouth, under any circumstances. The best thing to do is to notify your dentist, and he can either recommend something, or you can have your teeth whitened, by a dental hygentist in his office.
Reply:yes.

And so would your face, after you die of poisoning.

Dentists, hygenists...etc. Teeth question!?

If you bleach your teeth up to the point where they turn blue-ish and are a little see-through at the tips, then you stop bleaching them....Will they ever go back to the way they once were (not see through especially).

Dentists, hygenists...etc. Teeth question!?
The tips of your teeth will always be more translucent than the rest of the tooth but if you stop bleaching they should pick up normal staining and make it a little less obvious. However, if you want to keep them at the shade they are just without the tips being noticeable you would have to consider veneers. A veneer is a porcelain cover for your tooth that does not bleach or stain so you can pick the shade. You do have to remove tooth structure for a veneer so my advice would be to allow the teeth to stain a little and see if they become less noticeable.

Where can i find teeth whitening bleach?
Here are many ways that you can whitening your teeth!

For home remedies.

Mix baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to form toothpaste. Brush the teeth regularly with this paste. It will remove all stains in a month.

Use bicarbonate of soda 5 minutes before brushing the teeth with normal toothpaste in the morning. This is a good home remedy for teeth whitening.

Rubbing the bark of walnut tree on the teeth helps in removing all stains from the teeth.

Strawberries are considered natural teeth whiteners. Rubbing the teeth with strawberries daily will remove all the stains.

If you would like a suggestion on tooth whitening gel, here's something for you!

Crest Night Effects Whitening Gel (about $18.00) allows you to remove stains while you sleep. The tooth whitening system has a fresh, wintergreen flavor. After fourteen days of sleeping with this product on your teeth, you will wake up to a vibrant smile. You should see results in two days, although there are reports of tooth whitening results in one night

I dont even want to waste my time with those kits at the store

Has anyone got there teeth professionally bleached by the dentist?
I just went to 'Britesmile' a month ago....my teeth are 7 shades whiter. It costs $399, plus you get 4 free touch ups within 2 years. I am very satisfied.
Reply:My wife did it was about 400 and she was well satisfied.
Reply:No but i am a nobody not an anybody
Reply:at the office i work for it's called Zoom(R) bleaching cost about $500, even though it only cost the office about $100 to do it, takes about an hour
Reply:Professional bleaching does work in most cases. It depends on why your teeth are discolored in the first place: age, food staining, tetracycline, smoking, etc.

I've seen "Zoom" used on many people - the results are quick and fairly dramatic. Costs range from $400 to $700 for a two hour treatment.

To be honest, I think "Zoom" and other so-called light-activated systems are all bells and whistles. The take-home kits work well and are way cheaper. Takes about two weeks, but the results are similar.

All bleaching systems make your teeth more sensitive - from "oh, gosh, that ice cream tingles" to "OMG! I'm gonna die." It goes away when you are done bleaching and there are some great products that reduce sensitivity (big doses of fluoride mostly.)

Americans have an obsession with having white teeth. Just look at many of the questions in the dental section here. Not just white, but dazzling, intense, blinding white. Look at some older movies and notice the actors' teeth from the 30's, 40's and 50's. Not so perfect teeth in many cases.

My personal opinion is to go with the take-home kit. Save your money and get your teeth cleaned twice a year. Far more benefits from doing that.
Reply:I again agree with Emmalue. Many of the in office bleaching systems don't work all that great. I do the Zoom and am not impressed. I did it on myself, but I already had pretty white teeth so I didn't notice a difference.

I have patients do it all the time, and after I am done they are like "Oh, my gosh. It looks great. They are so much whiter." Me and the other assistant are looking at each other and grinning, cause there is little difference to what they came in with.

Crest Whitestrips work just as good as the in office stuff.

When Should I Floss? Before I Brush MyTeeth Or After? And Is Bleaching Safe?

So I just wanted to know when is the best time for me to floss. Should I do it before or after I brush my teeth? Or after every meal? How many times per day should I floss?

Should I brush my teeth everytime I eat?

What is the best toothpaste and toothbrush to use?

I want to bleach my teeth. Is that safe or not? Are they any long term effects? Will my teeth stay white forever after I get a bleaching or will I have to keep on bleaching after a period of time?

When Should I Floss? Before I Brush MyTeeth Or After? And Is Bleaching Safe?
Either time is fine as long as you are flossing. I prefer to floss prior to brushing to get the crud out and then brush it away. I don't know if you need to floss more than once a day. In my experience getting people to do just that would be a miracle.

Dental bleaching is perfectly safe. Be aware that it can cause tooth sensitivity so be sure to use a toothpaste like Sensodyne to help with those symptoms. Your teeth will not stay white forever. Everyday life will discolor them for the same reason they are discolored now. I started bleaching until I got to the result I wanted and now I just maintain by using my trays once every month probably.

Brushing after every meal is great but not always feasible. Two times a day is fine but three is preferred. ALWAYS before bed though so everything you have eaten or drank is brushed off before settling on your teeth for the night.

Congrats for you oral hygiene concern!
Reply:first only bleach if you do it once mabey twice every two weeks. but it will make your teeth les white when you are older.

and floss before you brush its is like a dust brush and the tooth brush is like a vacum
Reply:You should floss before brushing. Flossing loosens up the gross stuff in between your teeth, then you brush it away.

Flossing twice a day is enough to prevent gingivitis and other mouth diseases. Even just once every night will help.

You don't have to brush every time after eating but it's good for you. They say to brush 3 times a day, sometimes more but most people don't bring their toothbrush everywhere with them. Most people brush twice a day.

I use Colgate Total, I think it's the best. For toothbrush I use the Scuba by Radius, check it out online, it has a really big head. I think the best toothbrush is really an electric one called the Sonicare. My Mom was a dental assistant for years and she loves hers. The price is kinda high but I guess it's worth it.

Bleaching is safe. The best way is to get custom fit trays for your teeth from the dentist. Once you have them you won't need to get others made since they last forever. Then after about 3 or 4 bleaches your teeth are really white, but don't overdo it or people will be able to tell because they'll need to wear sunglasses when you open your mouth. And yes, you will need to continue bleaching when necessary. I do it about once or twice a year, sometimes less. I often get comments on how white my teeth are. I hope this helped.
Reply:I don't think that it is really necessary to brush after every meal unless you feel you need to. I don't know the real answer to when you should floss but I usually do it after I brush my teeth. I think that the best toothbrush for you to use is any toothbrush that fits your needs. Electric toothbrushes are almost always better. If you are worried about getting your teeth bleached then maybe you should try a whitening toothpaste or a toothpaste with baking soda.

Reply:This is what I tell my patients:

Since you are starting a new routine, make it easier on yourself. Start out by flossing 3-4 times a week, floss first to be sure to get it accomplished, then brush, keep the floss on the counter and not in a drawer so it will "speak" to you when you see it.

Everyday is the "best" routine for flossing, and only 1 time a day is ok. Floss when it is convienient for you...you just need to interrupt the plaque buildup at some point before more is added to it. You can floss before or after you brush, it really doesn't matter.

It would be great if we could get people to brush after every meal. Most dental professionals recommend twice a day. Before bed is very important because your mouth gets dry during the night and food acids will be more potent then.

A soft tooth brush is best. The brand depends on you. I recommend a compact head usually. I also like the rotary type brushes that are rechargeable. The Oral B Braun is my favorite. Toothpaste is a taste preference usually. I don't recommend the tartar control type or even the whitening types if your teeth are prone to being sensitive.

Bleaching your teeth is safe. The professional type will be more expensive, but stronger than the over the counter types. Most bleaching is not totally permanent. It may require touch-ups a few times a year. This is dependant on what you drink and eat...or smoke. Usually the teeth will not go back to the original shade, just slightly darker. Deep bleaching seems to be the most effective and predictable type of professional bleaching that I have seen. It requires 2 appointments in the office and at least 2 weeks of home bleaching trays.

What type of toothpaste could help my teeth become more white?

My teeth are white and i wanted to know if there is a toothpaste out there that works wonders on making teeth white as if they got bleached. I just do not trust bleaching my teeth i dont want to go all that far.

What type of toothpaste could help my teeth become more white?
rembrandt toothpaste and arm and hammer toothpaste both specialize in whitening teeth. crest and colgate also sell a non prescription teeth whitener that you just brush over your teeth. you'll find all of this at your local grocery or drug store.
Reply:peroxide and baking soda
Reply:Yes, there are some toothpaste products that have hydrogen peroxide put in to the mixture to help make teeth whiter. I think that Crest has a product like this and also I think Aquafresh does too.
Reply:In addition to whitening toothpastes (of which there are many) you can also try Listerine Whitening Pre-Brush Rinse. I use it daily and I'm very happy with the results. You simply rinse with it for one minute before brushing and it keeps your teeth nice and white. :)
Reply:since you already have white teeth then you only have to maintain and make them more whiter by drinking lots of white milk and brushing your teeth atleast twice a day.

Is it safe to bleach your teeth? What about laser bleach? How much does it cost? Is 20 years old enough?

I've used Crest White Strips maybe twice already. They were pretty good but I had extremely yellow teeth. Now they are slightly worse than normal but my back teeth are still nasty. I know there are $200 gels but I'm not sure if it will give all my teeth the same tone of white.

Is it safe to bleach your teeth? What about laser bleach? How much does it cost? Is 20 years old enough?
I have been using peroxide on my teeth since my teenage years. The reason being, I had cancers and my dentist advised me to rinse with peroxide. My teeth are very white and I know alot of whiteners contain peroxide.

If i have had a root canal can i go for bleaching of my tooth which is now discoloured?

Actually my dentist performed root canal surgery and my tooth is now discoloured. i am thinking about bleaching rather than veneers, crowns etc

If i have had a root canal can i go for bleaching of my tooth which is now discoloured?
Bleaching is a possibility; most likely, it will have to be internal bleaching. This is a process where your RCT is blocked off to a level below your visible gum line, and bleach is placed in. the technique is also called 'walking bleach', since the bleach will be placed into your tooth (blocked with a temporary filling), and you would return to the office in a couple of days until it is the color you like.

You need to understand that whitening your teeth removes enamel from your teeth. I would guess you need to be at leas the age of majority to be able to get them bleached.

Depends where you live.

But i'm getting my braces off before i turn 16 and getting my teeth bleached at 16

Teeth whitening done by a professional?

Does it hurt to have your teeth professional whitened?

I have extremely sensitive teeth. I have to go back to the dentist because when I had my braces, my teeth weren't taken care of like they should've been and I believe I may have a couple cavities now. Will they get rid of those before bleaching my teeth?

Teeth whitening done by a professional?
Sorry but don't listen to anyone that tells you not go see a dentist. If you have cavities or old fillings, you should consider bleaching your teeth first then have those cavities filled. If you have tooth color fillings, those fillings will not be bleach and they will need to be replaced to match to your new tooth color. You should always get professional advise before bleaching your teeth. Also, if your have sensitive teeth you need a dentist to properly prescribe the correct bleaching concentration and bleaching agent.
Reply:dont go to a professional. they are overpriced and not worth it at all...i may sound like a commercial but i agree with them. i used Crest Whitestrips Original and they worked GREAT. they make my teeth sensitive, but buy Sensodine Toothpaste and it will help alot :)

What is the best way to straighten / whiten your teeth?

Answers for either would be nice.

I just want to straighten my front four teeth.

Theyre no bad as is buuut... Im picky.

And Id like to whiten my teeth.

Not bleach white, thats creepy.

But Id like to know whats the most effective / longest lasting treatment.

What is the best way to straighten / whiten your teeth?
Braces. invisiline--if you are diciplined enough. With invisiline you must remember to always put it in your mouth unless you are eating. If you don't or forget, it could take longer to get straight teeth which means more money. Crest white strips work well. Even if your teeth aren't the straightest, if you can brighten your smile a shade or two, it makes such a wonderful difference. Don't use them too often thought b/c you don't want to strip the enamel on your teeth. It may be bettery to use a whitening toothpaste. It's not as harsh on the teeth but it takes a while to see results.
Reply:You need to go to a dentist and orthidontist, a dentist can whiten your teeth, and to straiten them there is not really many ways, and most have to be performed by an orthidontist.
Reply:crest white strips.

20 bucks and oh how worth it.

you can stop using them at whatever level of whiteness you're happy with.

if you have sensitive teeth they may hurt, but trust me, it's worth the pain.
Reply:See your dentist.. A whitening can range from $200. on up. A straightening you will have to ask them. A quickie whitening would be an at home regime of, before every brushing just swish your mouth with some hydrogen peroxide for about 30 seconds before. Or the store has some of those whitening mouthwashes with trace amounts of HP and flavored. I dont know if its the best way but it is A WAY . goodluck with your hygiene and try shaving your head and getting a tat . goodluck
Reply:I would recommend you that you get braces for the front teeth to straighten them. For the whitening part I would also recommend you get listerine new product that features whitening since its gonna be hard to bursh your teeth while you have the braces on. But be sure to also get sensodyne because whitening your teeth causes sensitivity and can cause lots of pain.
Reply:For whitening your teeth, you can consider using strawberries - natural and effective. From http://aches.in/toothwhitening.html
Reply:Ask around about who does(dental office) Luiminers by Cerinate on your area. It's a verneer which is very thin like a contact lense that is bonded and goes over the front part of the teeth. It will also straighten your teeth and you can pick the shade that you desire. Best thing about it is no grinding and no shots. It's perfect. but not cheap.
Reply:To straighten them...You probably need to see your dentist for that, to a retainer, or some braces...but to whiten them, here is a tried and TRUE remedy, that I, and my whole family use:

Brush your teeth regularly with a mix of 1 tablespoon of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of sea salt, and just enough hydrogen peroxide to make a paste...The paste will gradully lighten stains!!

Teeth whitening ( polanight co uk) advice wanted ?
Hello Jan

I have used polanight dental bleach and it was fantastic !

My teeth are so much whiter than my whole life has changed, I can now go out doors and dont mind people looking at me.

I would reccomend polanight to anyone, it works for amazing whiter teeth, and YES it is very very effective, I puchased it via my dentist but you can buy it much cheaper online.
Reply:Brush them.
Reply:You should use poroxide and swish it around your mouth. But dont swallow it because you could trow up i know i did. Leave it there for about 1 minute everyday.
Reply:Gels are highly effective. Zoom whitening which is supposedly 10 times faster is very expensive and doesnt last. Good luck.
Reply:my ex used a whitening pack from boots was £9.95 and it had a gum shield you put stuff into it over a month and it did whiten his teeth, see about bleaching expensive but effective.x

Will whitening your teeth at the dentist scrape off tooth enamel?

I'd like to maybe whiten my teeth but I'm worried that doing so will scrape off my already weak teeth?

When they whiten them, do they simply bleach them or do they try to take off the stains? for some reason i don't like the thought of just bleaching my teeth instead of getting the actual stains off.

Will whitening your teeth at the dentist scrape off tooth enamel?
If you have your teeth cleaned first, they will scrape off any deposits (commonly called tartar) and remove any surface

stains with instruments and then polish. If you're just doing

the bleaching, the bleach gets into the pores of the teeth and

whitens them. So it just depends on what you're having done.

And cleaning or bleaching will not harm your teeth, even if

they are already "weak".
Reply:call your dentist
Reply:no but you should get your teeth cleaned first so the bleach will go straight to the teeth, there's this new bleach called opalesence that has minerals that help the enamel to be shiny and works very fast, i saw some on ebay here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie... i used it and it made my teeth very white, only took about 40 minutes a day for 4 days

Front teeth too big?

I have always had big front teeth that are really long. But when I was 10 years old I had an accident at school which meant that I had to have the bottom quarter of one of my front teeth replaced. The dentists had to sort of sculpt the false part, and they did a really chunky job of it, and its always looked abit longer than the other front tooth since then. On top of that, I had to have braces to align my teeth, instead of pushing my front teeth up to make them look shorter, they were pulled out even further. The braces have been off for around 2 years now, and I can feel the upper end on my tooth just under my gum, so basically the roots have been pulled pretty low.

I will be visiting the dentist again quite soon for a check up, also to see about bleaching the tooth that got blackened by the chip. Would it be worth asking about correcting my front teeth, how much would it cost?

Front teeth too big?
I had 2 large front teeth in the middle. I had the four front teeth ground down with caps on all four teeth

The two middle front teeth were reduced in size and the 2 other teeth to the side were made larger to even things out.

That can get costly. The other alternative is veneers
Reply:I feel your pain my front teeth are a little big to. ya I think it would be worth another try dont go back to the same one if you can help it. and I would say it would cost about $3,000.00 dollars ya I know its a lot but if they do a good job it will be worth it.

Bleaching????

hi im thinking of starting to bleach my teeth, but theres one thing, is there any age that you should or shouldnt be bleaching your teeth. im 13

Bleaching????
Bleaching is not recommended in children under the age of 16. This is because the pulp chamber, or nerve of the tooth, is enlarged until this age. Teeth whitening under this condition could irritate the pulp or cause it to become sensitive. Teeth whitening is also not recommended in pregnant or lactating women
Reply:You are a little young yet to bleach your teeth. Try whitening toothpastes first. In a couple of years maybe your teeth will be mature enough and when that time comes, Crest whitestrips would probably be best for you. They are cheaper than the tray-whitening in your dentist's office, and they don't cause as much sensitivity.

Americans, why are your teeth all so white??!!?

Every time I see or meet an American, famous or not, their teeth are brilliantly white!! Is there a whitening product you can buy that really works or do you have your teeth proffesionally bleached by a dentist?? If you could recomend a product I would love to know the name of it so I can try to buy some off the internet. I would love white, white teeth but am terrified of the dentist..hope you can help!!!

Americans, why are your teeth all so white??!!?
i wouldnt say all americans, but for the some of us we do love our teeth and its our best interest to keep them healthy and white. I brush my teeth twice a day once in the morning and before i go to bed, flossing is equally important. I recommend Crest white strips and the toothpaste that goes with it.
Reply:crest whitening strips!!!!! trust me ours arnt all that way in real life!
Reply:i use crest white strips, they make my teeth really white
Reply:Crest White Strips is the answer. Probably can buy at Target , Walmart etc . on the web.
Reply:There are tons of whitening products you can buy off the Internet. Rembrandt is one manufacturer I know. You can even buy kits that contain trays and whitening gel on the Internet. I did that years ago and got my teeth very white. Since then, all I need to do is touch them up occasionally.
Reply:Crest white strips... and they have those new aquafresh ones, too.
Reply:Not sure where you're from, but Americans in general take personal hygiene as important.

The British have no dentists, and most Europeans have never used deodorant.
Reply:There are many answers to this questions.....In office bleaching, Nite white, crest whitestrips, Veneers, etc.....cosmetics are a beautiful thing
Reply:Clean teeth is a sign of good health, and it can make you more attractive as well. Brushing twice or three times a day can get you white teeth. It shows others you have good hygene.

If you want white teeth, I would recommend Crest Whitening Strips as i used other brands and the results were not the same.
Reply:I brush my teeth like, four or five times a day, after I eat, I am compulsive about it. Why? Because I just spent $2,000 on one single tooth that needed to be capped. A mixture of toothpaste, a little hydrogen peroxide, and baking soda, brushing with that mixture once or twice a day really helps. People glorify Crest whitestrips, but they can only use them once a day, not twice a day like the package suggests because they make your teeth sensitive. I hope this helps!!

Crest whitestrips run about $35.00 a box here.

What is the best way to bleach teeth, some say the tray from the dentist , others have used over the counter?

What is the best way to bleach teeth, some say the tray from the dentist , others have used over the counter?
Over the counter is of course the cheapest, but not the best. Some of those kits contain trays that you make yourself which are not the best, and some have strips which won't get into every front part of the tooth surface. Zoom, or in chair whitening works really well, but it is expensive and painful for some because of the sensitivity duiring the procedure. I like the trays, they make you a tray, you put the gel in it at home and do it yourself. This way you can control better how white your teeth get, and the sensitivity. Although it takes a couple of weeks with the trays, you always have them for touch ups. Whitening doesn't last forever, and if you have the trays you just pay a small amount for the gel and you can whiten them again.
Reply:the trays are THE BEST

the over the counter works but not as good
Reply:arm and hammer advanced white
Reply:the only difference in dentist product and store product is the amount of time it takes to get the same result.
Reply:I use the Crest Night Effects at night, and brush it off with Tom's Natural Whitening in the morning.

Got my teeth real white in a few months, though now I should be writing my thesis instead of posting here so it'll be hard to stay off the tobacco....
Reply:Crest whitestrips and crest night affects are both good
Reply:well... there's a few factors to consider...

As for how FAST they will turn white, definitively any dentist procedure will be faster than any over the counter product, but also a lot more EXPENSIVE.

As for How LONG they will stay white: NON of them are Permanent solutions, both need constant maintenance, but of course buying more whitening strips will be cheaper.

As for how WHITE will they be: No doubt that they will be WHITE with any option. 1 or 2 shades variation from one to the other will be only noticeble to YOU.

Personally I will go with over the counter, But it's really a Matter of How much you want to spend and how fast you need the result.

So Good Luck!!! I hope this helps to make your decision.

Ive had mine done at the mall. They were offering a treatment that involves this ultraviolet light that shines in your mouth while you wear a tray. Overall i would say it was a good experience and my teeth were definitely whiter, but maybe not at white as in the picture. But sometimes you could have "blanching" wear part of your gum gets bleached too but dont worry it goes away in like 15mins but my mom had hers done too and she didnt have anything like that and i thought mine stung a little and hers was fine so i guess it depends on the person but afterwards (like the next day) i got mouth sores that took about 4 days to heal that was the only thing that sucked about it.

Is it safe to bleach teeth yourself?

If i wanted to do it, should I? is it safe as long as i am extra careful? If it's possible please tell me how I should do it

Is it safe to bleach teeth yourself?
carbamide peroxide is the main ingredient and it is different that plain peroxide. the strength varies among different whiteners.

Before whitening your teeth, you should find out if your teeth have thin enamel. This can cause your teeth to have a yellowish or brownish apperance. Whitening will not help in this situation and can make appearance worse and cause sensitivity.

A product called NatureWhite contains carbamide peroxide is supposed to whiten your teeth dramatically with just one 45 Minute application. It is said to be the same thing that dentists use and that dentists use a 12% solution while NatureWhite uses a 22% solution. Crest white strips, by comparison, have a 3% solution.

Chewing on crunchy foods like carrots, apples and celery, is said to cause friction which helps get debris off your teeth that can stain them. There are many old natural remedies and some new natural and/or herbal products, as well as, some chemical products, all claiming to whiten teeth.

The color of teeth comes from genetics originally, and it varies person to person. Teeth will natually discolor over time due to age. The best way to keep teeth as white and you were designed to have, is to avoid foods, liquids, drugs, and products that stain teeth.

Avoid things known to stain teeth, like coffee, tea, red wine, berries, tobacco products, food colorings, etc.... Avoid direct exposure to a lot of raw lemons or citrus products like tomatos, limes, oranges, as the citric acid wears the enamel off the teeth, and when dentin is exposed (like with cavities), it can cause discoloration. If you do eat them, rinse your teeth right away. Avoid carbonated drinks that contain phosphoric acid, like coca cola for the same reason. Sports drinks often contain citric acid, phosphoric acid and organic acid (coffee contains organic acids, also). The latter two are known to break down calcium, along with breaking down enamel. Also, If you eat raw papaya or raw pineapple, rinse your mouth after eating them, as they have enzymes that can cause sores in your mouth and gums, because they break down proteins.

The antibiotic tetracycline is known to cause teeth to stain and so is fluoride and caffeine. Mercury fillings cause teeth to stain where the tooth comes in contact with the filling; This is because of galvanization. So, one should get all amalgams replaced. Gold seems to be ok as long as it is a good quality gold such as high noble, and white composites or porcelain fillings can be used.

Hydrogen peroxide can whiten teeth, but it can penetrate teeth, which are porous, and cause sensitivity. It is used in dental bleaching. It is a special 35% solution, so buying the 2% bottle of it over the counter in hopes to make your teeth white, will not work and could eventually cause sensitivity, irritation, or inflamation of the gums. Myself, I do not recommend teeth whiteners of any kind, for the same reason. If you do decide to use a teeth whitener, either over the counter or from the dentist, if you are not avoiding foods that cause staining, your teeth will stain again, and you will have wasted your money. To whiten your teeth often, will most likely cause sensitivity, enamel breakdown, and can lead to cavities. The long term effects of teeth bleaching on nerves and blood vessels inside the teeth are unknown. Laser bleaching seems to cause more problems with sensitivity than non-laser bleaching. Bleaching does not work on false teeth, crowns, veneers or fillings (even white ones). You may opt to replace those with lighter shades if you don't like the color. Bleaching is not recommended for children whose teeth are still developing or for pregnant or breastfeeding women.

It is important to brush after meals to avoid plaque and tartar build up, which can also cause discoloration. Avoid toothpastes that contain abrasives to fight plaque and tarter, as they can wear away enamel and make the dentin show through (which has a yellowish or brownish tint), which can cause staining, or cavities or cause your teeth to appear brown or yellow. Also, avoid brushing too hard for the same reason. If you do consume products that cause staining, use water to rinse your mouth directly afterward.

There is a technique called internal bleaching. The only way it can be done is to have a root canal, and root canals cause devastating health effects and should be avoided altogether.

The British Dental Association has expressed concern that the smokers' whitening toothpastes Clinomyn and Pearl Drops are too abrasive. Many whitening toothpastes contain titanium dioxide, a suspected carcinogen and can be absorbed by the skin, and, when the effluent containing it is discharged from manufacturers, it acidifies rivers and seas.

Smokers toothpaste, Topol, containing an abrasive form of silica to remove heavy stains from tar and resin deposits can cause damage to cementum and dentin in people with gingival recession, resulting root exposure.

Tooth whitening actually requires modifying the intrinsic tooth color, chemically alterating the chromophores within the tooth. Whitening toothpastes using bicarbonate, alumina and polyphosphates cannot whiten teeth; All they can do is contribute to stain removal. Whitening requires bleaching or enzymatic disruption.

Acid penetration and dissolution has not been an acceptable method of whitening for nearly a century.

Many products claim whitening ability with various peroxides -- hydrogen, calcium or carbamide. For over-the-counter peroxide content is kept low. It has effervescence and maybe some short-lived bleaching because peroxide is rapidly broken down by oral enzymes from bacteria and saliva. Gels stay on longer, but must be used with a tray to work. Only whitening products used by dentists have ADA acceptance. Over-the-counter product manufacturers have never attempted such claims.

It is said to be the same thing that dentists use and that dentists use a 12% solution while NatureWhite uses a 22% solution. Crest white strips, by comparison, have a 3% solution.

Before whitening your teeth, you should find out if your teeth have thin enamel. This can cause your teeth to have a yellowish or brownish apperance. Whitening will not help in this situation and can make appearance worse and cause sensitivity.

There are herbs that have been used throughout history to whiten teeth. Sage boiled in water to make tea was said to strengthen gums and whiten teeth. During the middle ages, powdered mint leaves were used to whiten teeth. Charcoal was touted as the best powder to use for whitening teeth, removing tartar and preventing decay. Other common ingredients in tooth powders included: cream of tartar, camphor, white castile soap powder, cuttle fish bone, precipitated chalk, powdered borax, powdered gum myrrh, powdered orris root, and talc. The majority of these ingredients cleaned and whitened teeth.

Here are some other natural remedies :

Take a teaspoon of lemon juice and a tsp of salt. Make a paste. Apply this on the yellowish tint.

Use the inner white part of an orange peel to rub teeth for a lovely white shine.

Take half teaspoon of bi-carbonate of soda mixed with a little water to form a paste. Rub this on your teeth.

Dried %26amp; powdered Bay leaves combined with dried orange peel is an excellent whitener.

Strawberries, oddly enough are said to have cleansing and bleaching properties that can help remove of tea and coffee stains, especially from dentures. Crush the strawberries gently and rub the pulp onto your teeth. Rinse with water.

There are some new tooth pastes and products with Bromaine Complex, a combination of the natural enzymes, Bromelaine from pineapple, and Papain from papaya, said to be clinically proven to whiten teeth.

Dentizyme is an herbal remedy; it consists of a unique blend of bio-active plant enzymes, organic botanicals, rainforest botanicals, and essential oils. Dentizyme users report fewer or no gum disease symptoms, they also report that their gums look pinker and healthier along with excellent teeth whitening results and teeth stains are said to disappear entirely with continued use of this herbal extract.

How does Zoom teeth whitening work?

This method consists of a mixture of gel and special light wave treatments. The patient is seated and the dentist uses a retractor to separate the lips from the teeth so that the gel can be applied. A special gel is then applied on all the exterior faces of the teeth. The dentist is careful, at this point, not to let the gel touch the patient’s gums too much, as it may cause irritation or lesions.

How long does it last and what effects can I expect?

The answers to the questions are different from one person to another. In most cases, a Zoom teeth whitening procedure is done twice a year. An average person who drinks coffee frequently and smokes daily will have improved tooth brightness - around 10 shades brighter. After the procedure is completed, the teeth will gradually start to regain their yellowish color over time, depending on how well you take care of them. On average, people who went through in office tooth whitening procedures noticed that their teeth stay white for months, although the initial brightness does not last more than a few weeks.

Reply:Usually the commercially products OTC are safe .Those are low peroxide ones. But the results are not the best. You should go to your dentist to get better products with more concentration of peroxide that work much better than the others. Even those are safe if you follow their instructions.
Reply:no, no and no..yor teeth could brake and you can do more damadge than alreday necessary..go to the dentist , explain situation...he will give you material, and you are all set
Reply:NO!!! But you can buy Crest White strips OTC. They come with a few weeks supply for about $30. You have to be careful though, if you have crowns (caps) or tooth colored fillings, those won't whiten. But definitely don't use household bleach!!!

500 dollars to bleach teeth white worth it?

The whole answer as to whether or not it is worth it lies within you.

If it would make you feel more confident about your appearance, and more satisfied with how you look, it may be well worth it to you.

As long as your expectations are realistic (you know that it will give you white teeth and a more attractive appearance, not a different personality and tons of new friends), and if it's something that's really been bugging you, why not go for it?

Well worth it if you can finally smile all the way with new confidence, right? :-)

500 dollars to bleach teeth white worth it?
no because it will most likly waer off!
Reply:NO
Reply:Wouldn't crest white strips (not sure..) work as well?
Reply:sounds a little steep but you will get immediate results and maybe you can't put a price on that
Reply:No, I don't think so.

What people don't realize is that alone if you brush your teeth 3 times daily, they'll be a lot whiter than if you only brush them once.

Still sceptical? I would reccomend white strips. The impact is not as powerful as advertised, but they do work.
Reply:I think having white teeth makes ALL the difference in your appearence. But 500 dollars is WAY too much. Try crest-white strips. I have used them. They really do work if you do it twice a day like they tell you. Probably not as well as bleaching them but they still work really well, you can tell after the first application.
Reply:I think that is a little steep... maybe $200-$300 (and that's pushing it) but I think $500 is way too much.
Reply:Start small first. Try a whitening toothpaste and Crest WhiteStrips. If your teeth aren't at the level you'd like them to be, then I would talk to your dentist about bleaching your teeth. Remember: bleached teeth require high maintenance, so things like coffee and soda are out if you want to maintain the white color.
Reply:No
Reply:no its not whitening your teeth will make them weaker not healthy for them
Reply:Way too much money!! Is your dentist quoting you that? If so, try another dentist! The white strips work well, from what I have been told... But also know that having a dentist give you at home treatments to bleach your teeth would work better.. I suppose it depends on how many treatments you would need to make your teeth white? Do you have dirty stains on your teeth?

after you get whatever bleached, you may want to try to use a tooth paste with baking soda in it. That is the best way to keep your teeth naturally white and you wont have to keep bleaching. I cannot bleach, because I have a fake tooth in the front of my mouth. I always try to use tooth paste with baking soda as an ingredient, and always get compliments on how white my teeth are...

good luck.
Reply:I just seen on tv, a new way to put white fake teeth ..over your own, not caps, they are just glued on and look real nice, it only take a hour to put them on, ,...no idea what they cost,
Reply:I don't think so. Nobody even looks at your teeth when you talk or whatever...and it'll probably wear off anyway. It's pretty stupid if you ask me. I don't care what color my teeth are, and I certainly wouldn't spend 500 dollars on it, that can be spent on things that are actually useful to you.
Reply:nope.
Reply:500$ is toooooooooooooo costly:

Teeth Whitening For a White and Shiny Teeth

http://teeth-whitening-for-all.blogspot....
Reply:It depends. This may sound weird, but it is true. I have been told by my very knowlegable dentist that there are no more than five colors in tooth enamel, and you can have a varied combination of some or all the colors. The colors are: White, Yellow, Brown, Red, and Gray. Unfortunately, I have all five colors in my teeth. He told me that if I had my teeth professionally whiten, which he can do, that it would bring out the gray in my teeth rather than the white, because of my color combination. When he placed a crown on my two of my teeth, a cuspid and bicuspid, that were next to each other towards the front of my mouth, he had the lab tech who makes the crowns come to the office to match my tooth color color becuase it is so unusual. I refrain from drinking tea amd coffee too much, and I do not use tobacco products. I drink a lot of water every day which I had to force myself to become accustomed to, but my health is better and my teeth look pretty good. I now crave water rather than other unhealthy drinks. I was told thath the best option for me if I decide to do whitten my teeth is to have them bonded. Some over the counter products are too abrasive so read your labels carefully if you decided to go that route. Actually the best teeth whitener is baking soda and peroxide. Swish your mouth with a little diluted peroxide and then brush you teeth with baking soda, and get your teeth cleaned once every four months. It can really make a differencel Also, I have seen people who have whiten their teeth and they stick out like a sore thumb because they are too white. It looks really weird, especially if they have a dark tan. I live in Florida, so I see a lot of that. Hope this helps! Sandra

I have crooked teeth... *Crys*...?

is there a cheap way to make it straight? I'm a guy with crooked gaped teeth, can i hide it with a whiter bleached teeth?

I have crooked teeth... *Crys*...?
If your teeth are crooked but white, you will at least look like you are taking care of yourself--not everybody MUST get braces. I only know about the pricier way to straighten teeth--braces or special trays. But really, keep your teeth and gums looking healthy and it doesn't matter how straight your teeth are unless they become a serious health problem. =]

Why do you have to be over eighteen to have your teeth whitened/bleached with an at-home kit?

i really want to have snow white teeth and they have tooth whitening kits on sale but they all say on them you have to be over eighteen. why? can it harm your teeth? i'm not gonna get it done if it does but how does it damage them? i'd just like to know thanks.

Why do you have to be over eighteen to have your teeth whitened/bleached with an at-home kit?
Bobby! is exactly right. Your teeth aren't done developing. Bleach is bleach. If you put bleach on soft, sensitive clothing, what would it do? It would eat it away and dissolve it into mush. It would do the same to your teeth. It would eat the finish off your undeveloped teeth and make them look worse than ever. It does the same thing to adult teeth and adults should be aware of this as well, but at least their teeth have finished hardening. All teeth whitening processes involve bleach or peroxide, all of which have the possibility of damaging the enamel of your teeth. Over time, with regular use of these products, a person may be doing more damage than good, all in the name of vanity.
Reply:Your teeth are not totally set. When they are then you can have them bleeched.
Reply:Im not sure why you have to be 18 but I know any bleaching or abrasives can and will eat away at the enamel on your teeth.

I think because it is harsh on your teeth and they don't want you overusing it and damaging them.
Reply:I used them before I turned 18 and never had a problem
Reply:im 12 and i have done it befour
Reply:so just in case your teeth fall out you would be old enough for dentures
Reply:I buy them and Im not 18 yet...try getting them at a different store.LOL.Thats what I would do.Good luck by the way.
Reply:it strips the top layer of enamel. it is actually bad for your teeth. beauty often comes at a price. this is one of them.

can you find someone over 18 to buy it for you? (i have never heard of an age restriction on teeth whitening kits... perhaps it is local or just that store?)
Reply:They say over 18 for liability. Just don't use it too often. the strips work best.
Reply:Commercial tooth whiteners use hydrogen peroxide and

are expensive and inconvenient. A cheap and natural

tooth whitening home remedy uses few strawberries

but certain precautions have to be taken.

What will happen it i brush my teeth with bleach?, Is it safe?

i want to whiten my teeth but dont want to spend $30 on teeth whiter

What will happen it i brush my teeth with bleach?, Is it safe?
GOODNESS GRACIOUS!! Don't do this!!! You'll wear down your enamel, not to forget that bleach is poisonous! It'll destroy your teeth and potentially damage or burn the tissue in your throat! There is a reason why they put a poison sign on bleach bottles!

Try "Pearl drops" or another whitening toothpaste, those only cost 3-6 dollars (in Canada). They work quite well without the serious health risks.

-By the way, your teeth might end up being gray rather than white if you use bleach. The bleach will burn little holes in your teeth and this will create cavities.

NOT WORTH IT!
Reply:Bleach is really high on the ph scale. That is to say it is a base. It will tear into your mucous membranes so badly causing a chemical burn. Don't mess with it!
Reply:Bad idea, beach can kill you
Reply:don't brush your teeth with bleach, you could die, there is bleach you can get from you dentist that would do the trick thats what I suggest otherwise quite drinking all that pop
Reply:Umm...

dont think you wann try that

you could end up dying...
Reply:brush your teeth with bleach and you are going to the e-room at your hospital, you will have such burns you could ruin your life as a trying to taste food and smelling things, wise up. would you drink bleach??????
Reply:Do not try to clean your teeth with bleach. If there are warning against touching your skin just imagine what it might do if you put it in your mouth. Check this site out.

Reply:Don't use bleach; you'll burn your gums. Your best bet is to rinse with a mix of water and hydrogen peroxide. You can also blend hydrogen peroxide and baking soda to make a paste and then brush with it ... but brush with a regular toothpaste afterward and then thoroughly rinse with water. Good luck!
Reply:probably. that is for clothes not teeth. clothes. it can dye your teeth.
Reply:Please don't brush your teeth with bleach. It's a lethal poison, meaning you could die. And bleach used as a household chemical is even dangerous (for instance, toilet tank bleach disks warn you not to leave bleach in the tank because it corrodes the porcelain).

Try brushing with plain baking soda and dip it in hydrogen peroxide to wet it. Wet the brush in peroxide, dip it in baking soda, then dip the brush again in peroxide, brush your teeth then rinse your mouth out with water real good. BUT DON'T SWALLOW HYDROGEN PEROXIDE. Once in high school, I lightened up my hair by soaking a cotton ball in hydrogen peroxide and wiping it on my hair for 2-3 days.

Next time you're at the store, look at the ingredients of those whiteners -- I'm sure they've got hyrdrogen peroxide in them. I use Mentadent toothpaste, just a plain formula, not the whitening, and people always tell me how white my teeth are. And I drink coffee a lot too. So try the peroxide, don't use bleach.

The website below (greenlivingtips) makes reference to brushing with peroxide, so I'm not just making this up. It works!
Reply:not to sound mean or anything... but don't do that sh*it you'll ***** your teeth up... not to mention that bleach is a poison and it will kill you.
Reply:THIS WON'T WHITEN YOUR TEETH, BUT IT WILL KILL ALL THE ORAL TISSUES IN YOUR MOUTH AND POSSIBLY KILL YOU.

DEATH IS EXPENSIVE, WHITENING YOUR TEETH SAFELY IS NOT.
Reply:Here are many ways that you can whitening your teeth!

Does anyone else use regular household bleach and baking soda to whiten their teeth?

I know that common 2% peroxide is common and safe but for better results (whiter teeth) is regular bleach unsafe if you're carful not to swallow it and you have no open cuts or sores on your gums?

Does anyone else use regular household bleach and baking soda to whiten their teeth?
There is such a thing as too white of teeth, to where it looks fake!

No I don't,

and BTW Nice pictures!
Reply:Baking soda yes. But bleach? I have no idea. I can't imagine the taste of bleach on my mouth though. =(
Reply:Bleach is very dangerous on your skin so I don't think it would be any safer in your mouth, open sores or not. It can and will be absorbed..... (((( DON'T DO IT ))))
Reply:common bleach is NEVER a good idea to use. It is toxic, can cause cancer, and blister the heck out of your mouth. Stick with peroxide or better yet, get that paint on kind ( I forgot it's name) from the store. My exgirlfriend was a model and that was what she used.

By the way, WOW!
Reply:DONT USE BLEACH!

Its a fact that it takes the enamel off your teeth.

This then weakens your teeth, making you more at risk of having teeth problems later on in your life!

Also, thinning of the teeth makes your teeth erode quickly!!!

By 60 years old you most likely wouldn't have any teeth
Reply:you can not use bleach. it is actually so strong, if you swallowed it, it can kill the aids virus, but it would kill you first. it would not be worth the risk even if you are careful not to swallow it. it can also cause problems to your enamel. i am a dental hygienist and would recommend crest whitestrips if you want to go the inexpensive route. zoom bleaching is great but expensive.
Reply:Bleach is POISON. Go to a dentist for a cleaning then ask your dentist how to whiten your teeth better.
Reply:I have been using regular beach for about 10 yrs,,It really works, especially if you smoke..I do it once a week,,you right just don't saollow it,,and don't brush to hard...

I brush with just Bleach %26amp; let it set about 10 seconds, rinse, then brush with toothpaste real good...
