it is verrry painful. i just got my braces off and i had to get my teeth bleached becuase there are some line marks on my teeth from the braces. it feels like all ur teeth are falling out and needles poke-ing all over your gum. its very horrifying. i will never get my teeth bleached every again in my life. GOOD LUCK~
Has anybody had their teeth bleached by their dentist? If so, is it painful? I hear it is. Please help!?
it is painful if they do not have a good dam built to protect the gums...it can burn the hell out of your gums. As a rule, this is not a problem, but I had it done, and their was some burning. Good luck
Reply:I work at a dental office, and I had my teeth bleached there with the 1 hour in office whitening procedure. It should not hurt. If it does, it%26#039;s my guess they didn%26#039;t do all the steps properly. There is a pasty material applied to your gums to block the whitening gel from getting on them. If this is done carefully then there is no reason it should hurt. It%26#039;s a very painless procedure. Afterwards your teeth can be sensitive to hot and cold though, so be careful with that for a couple days.
Reply:Everyone%26#039;s experience is different. More often than not, yes it causes some %26quot;discomfort%26quot;. Personally, it hurts like hell, you can%26#039;t breathe or drink without zinging for a couple of days %26amp; you tend to drool a lot for some reason. But it%26#039;s the price you pay for beauty %26amp; it%26#039;s worth it after the initial adjustment to pain.
Reply:All effective whitening processes cause the tiny tubes in your tooth enamal to open, causing increased sensitivity. Each individual has a different level of discomfort - some minor, some very painful.
A treatment of fluoride before and after such a treatment does wonders for the sensitivity. A dental office doing %26quot;Zoom%26quot; or other brands of in-office whitening should offer fluoride trays to reduce discomfort.
