Some people have told me that whitening strips or bleach trays weaken your teeth. They also make your teeth burn? HELP! Thank you SO much to all who answer, I am forever grateful! God bless you all!
Do whitening strips weaken your teeth?
Sensitivity comes from the drying of the enamel during the bleaching process. This can be lessened by using fluoride treatments or bleaching with a higher concentration for a shorter amount of time. You can get a fluoride gel OTC (over-the-counter) at most pharmacies or your dentist. You can brush it on your teeth, or you can put it in bleaching trays or any boil and bite tray for that matter. If you have any questions, you can contact your dentist to make sure you follow their recommendations and to make sure that they approve of you doing this.
Whitening strips and bleach trays are safe for use, but like anything else, using them improperly can cause damage. It's best to follow your dentists recommendations.
Hope this helps. Good luck to you.
Reply:Yup your gums and the interior of the teeths.
Reply:I have used them, and my teeth have became sensitive while using them, but once I stopped, there was no difference than before. I think if they damaged our teeth they wouldn't be on the market, or so popular.
Reply:I think they do harm teeth respective to the quality of treatment used.......whitening or bleaching have direct effect on protective layer of teeth ...thus weakening them and looking dull after few days requiring regular maintenance.....but its my personal view ..nothing about reality ...thanx
