I have very sensitive teeth and thin enamel, so those bleaching strips almost eat away what coating I have left, but I want to safely whiten my teeth. Any ideas? I've never seen a major different with basic whitening toothpaste. Is there a trick?
How to whiten teeth w/out using Crest strips? Those sting!?
I brush my teeth with regular toothpaste. Then, I take my toothbrush, poor some hydrogen peroxide on it and brush my teeth with that- it will sting a little bit and it will get very foamy- not like the pain from the crest strips though- just more stinging around the gums but it goes away after a couple of minutes. Then rinse your mouth with water. I do this everyday and people always ask how I keep my teeth so white.
Reply:just brush yor teeth twice a day, and stay away from coffee.
Reply:i was told by a dentist to use a whiting toothpaste with bleaching trays. It is just as effective but not so harsh! good luck!
Reply:All I use is whitening toothpaste and although I smoke and drink coffee, my dentist commented on how white my teeth were on my last visit a month or so ago
There also used to be a whitening chewing gum, but I don't know if it's still available.
Talk to your dentist about options, since your teeth are so sentisive. S/he might be able to suggest something that won't be as pricey as professional whitening.
Reply:The strips kill my teeth as well. I've had very good results using Crest Vivid White tooth paste. Its expensive for toothpaste, (around $5-$6 a tube) but the last time I went to the dentist she asked if I had my teeth whitened...so it does work!
Reply:Use whiting gel.
Reply:they now have a power jell you use it twice a day for a couple weeks that works very well. Its called puls white
Reply:You can buy a whitening gel for like 3 or 4 bucks and leave it on for 15 min and it does not cost as much as whitestrips. People tell me my teeth look whiter.
Reply:I would visit a cosmetic dentist for a consultation. I have really sensitive teeth too...the strips and those Rembrandt trays made my teeth ache and my gums were irritated. However, the BriteSmile treatment was definitely doable because it was a one time thing and the dentist was very aware of my problem. It's supposed to last 2+ years too. The pastes really didn't do that much for me. Even the more expensive stuff like Pearl Drops or Rembrandt. I would definitely talk to a dentist about it...the treatments are pretty affordable now...or maybe he/she can give you some suggestions.
Reply:Commercial tooth whiteners use hydrogen peroxide and
are expensive and inconvenient. A cheap and natural
tooth whitening home remedy uses few strawberries
but certain precautions have to be taken.
