Question about my teeth?

When I was younger and got braces, I hardly ever brushed my teeth and now they are dark brownish/yellowish with little white spots from where the braces were covering, I had braces when I was 7 years old, and now I am 15 years old, and the other day I went to the dentist, and the dentist said that if I were to bleach my teeth, it would only whiten the little white spots where the braces were covering and not do anything to most of the teeth(she said it wouldn't do anything to where it was all yellowish/brownish which is most of my teeth) why is this or is it true? and what can I use to make my teeth whiter besides strips? 10 pts for the one who answers both of these questions.

Reply:Have your parents spend the money and get Veneers on your teeth. I think they are about $500 per tooth, but it's going to cover your whole tooth and make them white. My son didn't take care of his teeth when he had braces and he's using GoSmile and it's helping. I guess it depends on how discolored they are.
Reply:Porcelain veneers are extremely expensive, but they would work. As I am not a dentist or orthodontist, I am assuming that your dentist is correct in saying that whitening wouldn't help. You might have been able to change the appearance of your teeth if you whitened them before now.. After all, it has been 8 years. Try using whitening toothpaste... There are also at-home whitening kits that you can use that have lights like the ones dentists use that are supposed to whiten your teeth after 10 minutes of use everyday or so... hope i helped! :P
Reply:you can try peroxide in sellect areas. DON"T GET IT ON YOUR GUMS. use a small brush or just brush your teeth with it like normal but lightly. You dentist is sort of right. But you can whiten the dark part over time. It will take longer to get the areas to match but your teeth will get lighter. After they are a certain shade the light spots won't stand out as much. Good luck on that don't give up. A smile will last forever, keep brushin' :)

People are saying to get veneers...don't until your older. They are VERY expensine, my Dr charges $1050 per tooth. They are very time consuming and they can make your teeth sensitive. But they will improve your smile dramatically b/c they are fake covers. But yuo can pic out the ones that make you look best. Ask your dentist for a wax-up if you do decide to go that route. They do look good, but I would wait until you're in your 30's. You never know what might happen now.
